Peer Services Coordinator

Fulltime, 35 hours/week

Program: Reach One

Responsibilities: This peer position is responsible for the day-to-day functioning of various peer support programs including but not limited to Reach One and Drop-In Services. Specific duties include but are not limited to: provide supervision and support to peer staff, volunteers and part time staff; relieve staff and carry a caseload as needed; participate in recruitment, prepare staff evaluations, and assign/approve work schedules and time sheet submittals; design, develop and lead /supervise a variety of group activities; act as liaison with other community agencies; generate and maintain reports as required; document all direct and collateral services and interventions in a timely manner and within MHA/OMH documentation timeframes; assist in crisis prevention and response; expand community outreach efforts and increase program utilization, i.e. marketing plan to increase community awareness; facilitate peer involvement and leadership of activities; and transport consumers to program and community activities as required.

Requirements: Personal experience with recovery from mental illness. NYS Peer Certification or BA degree in mental health related field (eg. Psychology, Social Work) or equivalent and experience working with individuals in recovery from mental illness. Supervisory experience preferred. Experience working with individuals with mental illness in a both group and individual settings. Experience working with diverse populations. American Sign Language and knowledge of the Deaf Culture preferred.  Valid driver’s license.
